about

The first of many collaborations with funk-soul label, Fraternity Music Group. Two of my favorite funk 45s from 1969 get a 2017 re-working for this release.

The Zone Identity is a work in progress - it's essentially me paired with different combinations of musicians to see what comes about. Basically, any funk endeavors I have that aren't under The Du-Rites' umbrella. For the inaugural release, I'm joined by percussionist Ray May, guitarist/bassist Ed Littman and Bennett Paster on the Hammond B-3. Ed and Bennett are members of Fraternity Music Group house band, The UBs. I'm on drums and pick up bass duties on the b-side as well.

Instrumental funk for your stereo!

J-Zone Queens, New York

My childhood dream of playing bass in a funk band died when Jheri curls went out of style. I had an on again-off again rap career that ended in 2016. I wrote and self-published a book in 2011, learned to play drums shortly after and returned to my funk roots as a drummer, where I feel most at home. Enjoy the music and thanks for your support! ... more
